N’Djamena, August 18, 2025 — The Center for Studies on Development and the Prevention of Extremism (CEDPE) expresses its deep indignation and strongly condemns the extrajudicial killing of a civilian by the Rapid Support Forces (FSR), in a context marked by tension and abuse of power. This act constitutes a blatant violation of human rights and the fundamental principles of the rule of law. It is part of a troubling pattern of security excesses that further erode public trust in the FSR. “No security imperative justifies the extrajudicial execution of a civilian. Respect for human life is non-negotiable,” stated Dr. Mahamat Ahmat Yacoub, President of CEDPE. CEDPE calls for: The arrest of all militias involved in the atrocities; The immediate launch of an independent and transparent investigation; The strengthening of human rights training and ethical conflict management for all forces involved in the conflict.
The Center reaffirms its commitment to promoting responsible governance in Africa, based on justice, dignity, and nonviolence. It urges national and international organizations to mobilize to ensure such acts are neither repeated nor ignored.

Finally, CEDPE calls on the Chadian president to end all support for any party involved in the Sudanese conflict and to promote mediation efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability.
